After opening the gate you’ll drive up the driveway and leave both the road and daily life far behind you. The long driveway is lined with oleanders and olive trees and lights go on at night should you arrive after it has become dark.
At the end of the driveway you can park your car next to the house, out of direct sight, but just a few meters from the entrance of the villa; the path to the door is a flat, concrete surface, made for optimal wheelchair accessibility. The lovely garden at the front of the house is full of lavender, bougainvillea and succulents.
Start the day well with a nice cup of coffee in the sun, on the bench in front of the house with a majestic view of the Maroma, the highest mountain in the Axarquia.
On most evenings in the valley you can hear the local shepherd Fernando return home with his herd of sheep.
Behind the house is an extensive garden, designed to help to take full advantage of the sunny climate. This is where most of your holiday when spending time in the villa, will take place. A number of graceful paths, all with even concrete surfaces lead to a number of lovely spots in the garden.
Under the elegant white pergola stands an impressive tree table that can sit up to six people where you can have an extensive breakfast, lunch or enjoy an endless dinner on the Green Egg style barbeque during long summer evenings.
The table is wheelchair accessible.
Next to the pool is the pretty white sun terrace with comfortable cushions and shading with amazing views in every direction. From here you can even see the sea!
A bit further down, the aperitif corner is situated, where you can enjoy your pré dinner drinks, with ample room for the wheelchair user to sit close to his/her family or friends.
At the far left of the garden you can withdraw to the ‘silent corner’, a secluded place located a little further from the villa with a direct view of the olive grove, where you can 'chill', read a book or get a benefical massage.
At the far right corner the custom-made outdoor shower is located, running both cold and hot water. It enables everyone including the guests in a wheelchair to take a shower ‘in the middle of nature’, whilst enjoying the magnificent view of the Zafarraya gorge.
The garden of Villa Zafarraya is a place where children can explore. It is a safe place with lots of shady trees and places to play. They can also enjoy with a game of table tennis or darts.
Once the sun has set, the garden becomes even more magical…
All spots can be illuminated at night and the olive trees are highlighted, turning the garden into a fairytale.
This way you can enjoy, wonderful long summer evenings outside.
